KUALA LUMPUR: The recovery of AirAsia Indonesia Flight QZ8501's flight data recorder and the cockpit voice recorder will allow the Indonesian authorities to identify the cause of the crash and end all undue speculation, said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai.
He hoped that investigation details will ensure that flight safety will be upgraded and serves as a reminder of the importance of staying constant in the quest to increase international aviation safety and security standards.
Liow also expressed hope that the implementation of real time global tracking will be accelerated.
Malaysia, he added, is committed to providing assistance to Indonesian and has sent three Royal Malaysian Navy vessels for the search efforts.
Malaysia will bear part of the cost incurred for the use of the fourth vessel that will be activated in the MH370 search mission.
The vessel, Fugro Supporter, is owned by the Australian government.
Three vessels, Go Phoenix, Fugro Discovery and Go Equator, had been involved in the on-going search taking place in the Indian Ocean.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the Australian government was expected to spend about AUD120 million (RM349.6 million) on Fugro Supporter in the search.
Petronas has funded Go Phoenix's cost of RM67 million.
Amid the spotlight on AirAsia Indonesia QZ8501, Liow said Malaysian government was committed in locating MH370.
" We are also actively giving care, counselling and updating the latest information to the families and next of kin here, and in China through the Family Communication and Support Centre in Beijing," he said.
