IPOH: Investigators for the crashed AirAsia is getting closer to locating the black box of the doomed flight.
Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said the ping from the black box was getting nearer and stronger.
"Getting the black box is important as only then we will be able to find out what actually happened to the flight," he said.
Speaking to reporters here today after attending a Perak MCA organised solidarity dinner, Liow, who is also MCA president, added that the rescue operation centre at Subang was getting daily report on the matter.
"We are coordinating with our Indonesian counterpart. We give them our 100 per cent assistance when required," he said.
Liow assured although search for AirAsia flight was ongoing, search for MH370 was still in the process.
"So far we have searched 26 per cent of the 60,000 sq km determined for the search," he said.
Earlier it was reported that investigators searching for black boxes in the crashed AirAsia plane lifted the tail portion out of the Java Sea on Saturday, two weeks ago after it went down, killing all 162 people on board.
The tail was hoisted from a depth of about 30 meters (100 feet) using inflatable bags that were attached to the rear of the aircraft and a crane to lift it onto a rescue ship.
